Spring is right around the corner!

                                                                                                                                     February 24/14

Afternoon!!
It's been one hell of a week!! And I mean that in the most wicked way possible.  Last week when I blogged, I had mentioned the storms we were getting.  So lets elaborate on that.
Monday was a holiday for us. It's called "Islander Day"..... I know.... Super weird name, considering everywhere west of Ontario calls it Family Day.  Anyways, so no school on Monday,  and that was enough to mess with my head and get me out of whack!! Tuesday, Nikki and I had Dr.s appointments, so instead of driving her out to school and then go back out to get her, I took her to school with me.  She was pretty content, and drew/colored/played games most of the time.  Everyone complimented on how polite she was and how well she used her manners!  *We must be doing something right!* Anyways, go to the Dr.s appointments and call it a day!! Wednesday and Thursday were storm days for us.  A storm rolled in Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning dropping 20+ centimeters of snow (7 Inches for ya'll across the border!) and was sunny by mid afternoon.  Thursday was pretty much the same thing.  Another system rolled in Wednesday night, and into Thursday morning dropping another 25+ centimeters of snow (10 inches). We got close to 50 centimeters (20 inches) by the end of the two storm.  I was really hoping the storms would bug off at this point, but we are in the Maritimes, and it is still winter!!!

February is a big birthday month for us.  My niece Rhaya (pronounced Raya) and my daughter Emma have birthdays 3 days apart.  Rhay Rhay was 3 on the 20th, and Emma was 9 in the 23rd, yesterday.  We had cake, boiled dinner *om nom nom!!* and lots of presents.  The big thing that Emma wanted this year was a picture of her and our beloved Daisy.  I could have done it the cheap way, and had one printed off at Walmart, but it wouldn't really capture what I wanted it to.  So with the help of a long time friend, and fantastic artist, we were able to give her a hand drawn portrait of just her and Daisy in head shots.  It certainly captures the beauty and love that those two shared.  Emma did cry, but they were tears of joy and overwhelm. It wasn't an iPod, or a game, or any other stupid electronic.  It was something from the heart, to the heart.  It meant the world to me that she wanted it, and it means the world to her that she has it.

Saturday was pretty big again too!! I went up to Summerside (west of where I live) to view the Holland College campus where I'll be attending in September for Automotive Technology!  I love the school, and so far, love the instructor.  I got to view the shop, and take in all the other classes that may have tickled my interest, but I couldn't be bothered.  I know what I want to do, and I'm going to go get it!  The only other thing that sort of tickled my interest was the Gas Turbine course.  They had engines in there from the Cormorant search and rescue helicopters.  The instructor got in to some of the detail, and it sounded like something I would try.  But for now, I'm going to stick to what I know.  So b/c we don't have a Heavy Duty Automotive course here on PEI, my instructor said that once I write my 4 block exams, during my three year term, I can write my red seal, and have it for light duty by the end of the third year.  He then told me that once I get that Red Seal, I can apply for apprenticeship again, and after I get those 4000 hours, I can write the test for the Red Seal for Heavy Duty and skip the block exams, because I will have already done them the year before!!! I am absolutely over the moon thrilled that if I keep my eye on the prize, hypothetically, I can have 2 Red Seals by the end of year four into the start of year five!!! I was fist pumping ALL DAY LONG!!!  It will be a lot of hard work, but it will absolutely be worth it in the end.

Spring is definitely right around the corner.  Even after all the snow we got last week, it was so warm this weekend, that the snow melted a foot or more.  It was fantastic.  You can smell the mud in the air, and look at all the Robins that have come back!! I can't wait!!! That means Bike season is upon us!!!!!

Well, that was the week in a nut shell..........

Chat at ya's soon!

Storm Week?

                                                                                                                                February.18/14

Evening!!!
Wow I slacked this week!  It's Tuesday and I still have yet to blog about last week.  It was pretty quiet, as are most weeks lately.  Wasn't too much excitement going on.
The first part of the week was laid back with school work, and pumping my self up for my surgery that was to happen on Thursday!!!   Thursday morning, we head over to Moncton, New Brunswick, to the hospital, Moncton General for an endoscopy and biopsy.  The doctor over there was taking biopsies of my stomach lining, a biopsy to test for Celiac Disease and a biopsy of my ilya, which is the part between your small intestine and your stomach.  While they were doing the scope they also placed a pill with cameras on it, in my small intestine.  They had me hooked to a wiring harness, and mini camcorder for 12 hours, or until the pill had passed into my large intestine.
When heading into surgery, I had expressed to the Doctor that I wanted to be sure that I was not going to wake up part way through, b/c I had spoken to three other people and they all woke up part way through.  He assured me I wouldn't, but low and behold, part way through, I wake up gagging on the gadget they have shoved down my throat and into my belly.  The Nurses were less than appealing as they were fighting with each other in front of patients!! Real mature!! Anyway, when I started to come to and knew I was gagging on the scope, the nurse and Dr. were yelling at me to CALM DOWN, CALM DOWN, JUST BREATH!!! How the hell does one do that with a contraption strapped to your mouth to hold your mouth open, and a scope shoved down your throat?? Honestly??  At that point they gave me more anesthetic, but not quite enough as I woke up AGAIN as they were pulling the scope out!!! I would ABSOLUTELY take a colonoscopy  over an endoscopy ANY day of the week!!!
I finally get wheeled back into my little area to kind of come to, and I sit up feeling loopy as old hell trying to blow my nose! *I was getting over a cold!!*  I was only back in the area maybe 5 minutes, and when the bitch nurse saw me sit up, she said, "Oh good you're up!! K lets get dressed and get you out, I need this bed!"  Soo comforting!! didn't ask how I was doing......... If I was ok to walk..... NOTHING.... Just a get up and get out!!! I wait for the Dr to speak with me, and when I do, he tells me that I can leave the hospital, but DO NOT go near banks or an air-port!  This was stressed to me several times, and I didn't quite catch why, being loopy and all.  When I ask Adam why, sure enough, when I look down, the wiring harness and the imagine pack looked like a well constructed bomb!! Sweet Jesus!!!
Now, anyone who has been to Moncton as often as we are, knows there really is not a whole lot to do in the winter time, kind of like here in little ole Charlottetown! Our first stop is the Mall, because we know we can kill an easy 2-3 hours in there!!  We go get Adam something to eat *I was restricted to water until the pill passed* and finally get shopping.  After that, we still had the rest of the day to put in time, so we hit up various spots!!  It was by far the most BORING time in Moncton I have ever spent!!!
Finally we head back to the hospital in the evening to see how far the pill had gone.  I finally had the go ahead to take the harness off!!! I was OVER THE MOON!! oh and starving!!  We leave the hospital and I said to Adam to take me straight to Quiznos!! This momma was getting a bloody oven sub and no one was going to stop me!!
When we're away we eat at places that we don't have on the island.  Quizno's is one of our usual spots, along with Arbys, Jungle Jims, Montana's, Mike's, etc.  We used to LOVE getting Pizza hut for our drive home, but we've got one of those now, and the novelty of it has worn off.  So I get my foot long sub, woof it down like it's my last meal, and then go to Arbys to get some Sammiches with cheese to take home!! The girls LOVE Arbys, so it was kind of something for us all.  But mainly me!! LOL!!
The weekend, was extremely slow!! We did get caught up on the laundry, and house work.  The house needed it.  Looked like a hurricane came flying through!!
So, to the name of the title?? Storm Week?? Well,it started on Saturday night when a storm system rolled in, and dumped snow right into Sunday leaving 25+ cm in it's wake!! It's now Tuesday.  We have a storm system moving in tonight, which will dump 5-10cm of snow over night and into tomorrow. Expected to by sunny by mid afternoon tomorrow!! Perfect right?? NOPE!! Then ANOTHER system moves in tomorrow night into Thursday dumping ANOTHER 25+cm's of snow, and the forecasters are calling for yet ANOTHER fuckin' system on Friday!! Now, I love winter, and snow!! I do!! Believe me.  But when we're missing so much school b/c of it, we don't get the opportunity to make up for it was days tacked on at the end of the school year.  This poses a huge problem for me considering I've only got something like 50 or less days left!!! Oh my nerves!!!
Well guess I'm going to take off from here........
If I'm not back in a week..... Just wait longer......... Lord knows how long it will take to get the snow cleared!!!

Chat at you all later,

With family, you're richer than you think!

                                                                                                                                          February 10/14

Well hello!!!
This isn't my usual Sunday evening post, but a day late isn't so bad!! What a week we had!! I have to say, it's getting much easier to be at mom and dads.  Everything seems to be falling back into place as it was, minus our babe!!
Last week was pretty slack.  I really slacked on my school work, which is not good, seeing as how there is only 10 weeks of school left!  Time to pick up my socks and get my ass in gear!  We were kind of busy last week, with having to get the house clean, and keeping the kids occupied.
At the end of the week, I took off on Friday after lunch.  Went and picked up my hubby, we had Chinese food for lunch and went home to relax.  Adam's been fighting this strain of virus that has hit the island, and has been for the last two weeks.  This morning I woke up feeling nasty with a stuffy nose!! Not a good way to start off the week, but if I'm alive and kicking, then that's all that matters.  Saturday morning, we slept in, as we usually get to do b/c it's Adam's only day off and decided to go to the farmers market.  For those of you that are not really familiar with it, it's a market in which everything is island made, grown, crafted, etc.  We go there for the food!!! You will not get better food around dinner time on a Saturday unless it's at the market.  So we venture out as a fam-jam, and meet Adam's dad, Leonard.  The kids love seeing Grampy Len, and it's probably b/c he spoils them to death!! Then again, what grandparent doesn't?  So the girls got their smoothies, Nik got her mini-donuts, Emm had her pulled for "sammich", Len had his filoful  *Spelling*, and Adam and I both had our usual; a large Chicken Schwarma!! OM NOM NOM!!!! After we leave, we head to his dad's house so the two of them can fix the sound system in the truck!!! I got to visit with Len's wife, Mindy.  Oh how I loath someone who treats others like they are lower than scum.  I try and have an open mind towards her........................... Nah, fuck that!! No I don't!! HA!  There's something about her that makes you wanna just lash out irrationally!! We finally got home and finished out our lazy day.
I slept until probably 5:00pm, when Emm came home wondering if she could go for a sleep over!  So Emm takes off across the road and that left Nik to be home with us.  She was less than impressed, but we need to let her know that she can't have her way all the time.  So nik and I laid in bed and it was almost 7:50pm. I look at Nik and I say to her "I want to go skating!"  She was ecstatic, number one, b/c it was dark out and past her bed time, and number two, it was past her bed time!!!  I text Adam, b/c I was far too lazy to roar down the stairs at him, and tell him we're going to a rink.  He looked at me like I had six heads!!! I told him that the night time was the best time to go skating, b/c the ice is super hard, and next to no one goes.  We get down to Founders Hall, where one of the outdoor rinks are, and skated until about 9 PM.  We had a blast!! I was even more excited that Adam came!! He's not really a winter person, but now that he's been watching us skate, he wants to get his own and learn!!! I'm soo happy!!!
Yesterday, Sunday, the girls and I trucked out to mom and dads for a birthday supper.  This month is Emma's birthday, and my Niece,Rhaya (Pronounced Ray-a).  So we had the birthday supper for them together.  My parents made homemade meatballs and fries, Meg *my sister* baked a fantastic chocolate cake from scratch, and I made homemade ice cream to go along with it.  We were beyond full.  Nothing tastes better than a home cooked meal.  As mom and I call it, Comfort food!!  We got there around 3:30pm, and the kids bundled up to head outside.  Poppy got his snow suit on and away the kids and him went on the ski-doo.  Sweetums and I could be accounted for rolling around in the snow.  I just love seeing him, and I just love being home.  It's the best stress relief for me!  Nothing makes me more mellow than going out there!!  It was an all around fantastic day.
On Thursday, Adam and I are off to Moncton General Hospital for my surgery.  I'm nervous, but looking forward to it at the same time, so we can finally see where the inflammation is  for my Crohns. So hopefully all will go well there!

well, I'm not getting any school work done, so I'll leave it at this!

Just remember that you don't need all the riches in the world to be happy.  As long as you have family by your side, then you are the richest person ever.  I thoroughly enjoy my riches!!! <3

...Here it is February...........

                                                                                                                                            February.2/14

Evening.......
How was everyone's week?  It's finally February and according to the groundhog, Spring is coming early!! GIGGITY GIGGITY!!!  February also means that Emma turns another year older!! Only 22 days until she turns 9.... going on 29 that is!! LOL!! Anyway, things are getting better, and more settled around the house.  It's been a crazy few weeks with everything that happened surrounding our fur baby, but things seem like they're trying to get back to normal.........Whatever normal is.
It was a week of just being blah! I went to school, but totally didn't want to be there!  And not because I don't want to learn.  Just being over tired with having to get up super early and get the house ready for he day.  It gets exhausting after a while, especially when my hubby was working twenty something days without a day off.  He finally got that on Friday, and he took the rest of this weekend off, so it was a very relaxing three days.  He's been sleeping a lot, but I'm not complaining!

So I didn't do much in the span of last week.  I went to donate blood on Friday morning, as they are apparently crying for O and A blood.  Being A+, I went in, went through the whole screening process, which took an hour.  Checked my glucose, my iron levels, blood pressure, etc, and when we get to the part where you answer a bunch of questions, the lady tells me that b/c I am still being tested for Crohns Disease, I am unable to give blood.................. EVER............ This kind of pissed me off, b/c I was asked the question, do you have Crohns, Cancer, etc, over the phone when I made the appointment, and they asked me before I went to see the nurse.  In all the people I spoke to, not one person felt to mention that, resulting in a waste of my time!!! I think the only thing I hate, is that I absolutely dislike being told I can't do something!!! And it's one of those times where I can't prove it wrong by doing it!! Booo

Anyway, Friday afternoon, I gathered the kids up (They had a day off from school.... Professional Development Day...... AGAIN), and we went to Mom and Dads.  Emma said she wanted to see where Poppy had laid Daisy to rest, and so off we go down the field.  I show her where she's laying and I explain to her why she's laid the way she is and what it would have meant to her.  We shared tears, to which Nikki says , "Maybe we shouldn't talk about it!"  I told the girls both how very important it was to express their feelings and to not bottle it up inside.  I told them it would only make them a stronger person by doing so.

Off we go back to the house, and I get geared up to blow the snow that drifted into the drive way, and then haul in the wood that we had packed on the truck a week or so prior.  We can only take so much into the house now, b/c Sweetums is in the porch day and night, with the exception of going outside to do his business.   After we get everything done, it was almost supper time.  Sweetums came in the house and I gave him his usual treat of crackers with peanut butter.  This was odd to me, b/c I'm so used to getting enough treats for two dogs.  Needless to say, we keep a close eye on our boy, and of course he's spoiled rotten, as usual.

Yesterday, it was a balmy -2 degrees, and well.....for here.... that's short weather!!! I even broke out my flip flops!! We gathered the girls up, and we went for lunch as a family.  Seems like we haven't done anything family related in forever!! After that,we went to Momma McEwens for a visit.  We haven't seen or talked to her since the start of January.  It was great to visit ad relax.

Well..................seeing as how there isn't much to talk about, I'll end it here!  I have to say, y'all are super awesome for reading these!!

*Remember, it's better to have love and lost, than to not love at all*
